Xinomavro (pronounced KSEE-no-MAH-vro, meaning “sour black”) is the iconic red grape variety of northern Greece, renowned for its structure, depth, and aging potential.
Its versatility allows it to produce long-aging red wines, dynamic rosés, aromatic sparkling wines, and even unique sweet wines. Grown in four PDO appellations and numerous PGIs, Xinomavro highlights the diversity of northern Greece’s terroirs and underscores the multifaceted character of this grape variety.
