Athiri
Athiri (pronounced Ah-THEE-ree) is one of Greece's oldest white grape varieties, originating from the sun-drenched islands of Rhodes, Santorini, and the Cyclades. With its thin skin and tender pulp, it produces elegant wines with aromas of citrus and yellow fruits, a round and accessible texture, and moderate alcohol content.
Although it is often blended, particularly with Assyrtiko, to add sweetness, Athiri shines on its own in the island vineyards, offering light to medium-bodied white wines that are perfect for summer. Its aromas are never overpowering; they are subtle, lively, and inviting, making Athiri a delightful introduction to the nuances of Greek wines.
