Nestled in the picturesque village of Thiramona, in southern Kefalonia, Petrakopoulos Wines continues a centuries-old family tradition of winemaking. Founder Nikos Petrakopoulos, a descendant of the prestigious Byzantine families Melissinos and Solomos, collaborates with oenologist Kiki Siameli to craft unique wines that are true to their terroir. They focus on rare local grape varieties and old vines, planted before phylloxera, in small, fragmented vineyards. With an emphasis on single-varietal wines and guided by organic and biodynamic practices with minimal intervention, the estate aims to capture the authentic expression of each grape variety while respecting biodiversity and the environment.
