Kidonitsa
Kidonitsa (pronounced Kee-do-NEE-tsa, meaning “little quince”) is a white grape variety native to Laconia in the Peloponnese that has been brought back into fashion. Almost forgotten until recent decades, it now shines in dry varietal wines characterized by lively aromas of quince and citrus, a smooth texture, and balanced freshness.
While Kidonitsa plays a key role in the legendary sweet wines of the Monemvasia-Malvasia PDO, its pure expressions are increasingly being bottled on their own, offering wine lovers a rare opportunity to taste the delicate, aromatic soul of Greece’s rediscovered heritage.
