Mavroudi
Mavroudi (pronounced Mah-VROO-thee) is a dark-skinned red grape variety native to northern Greece, prized for producing aromatic wines with deep color. Although it is mainly used for single-varietal red wines, these wines are still rare and highlight the rich fruitiness and expressive structure of the grape variety.
In some regions, “Mavroudi” is also used as a generic term for red grapes of uncertain origin, reflecting the historical diversity and mysterious heritage of this grape variety.
