Aidáni
Aidáni (pronounced Eye-THÁ-nee) is an elegant white grape variety from the Cyclades, which thrives in the sunny vineyards of Santorini and neighboring islands. Well suited to dry, windy, maritime conditions, it brings a delicate floral aroma, smooth texture, and subtle fruitiness to blends.
In Santorini, Aidáni is often paired with Assyrtiko, to which it adds elegance and rounds out the pronounced acidity and alcohol. Although single-varietal wines are rare, they reveal an aromatic, medium-bodied wine with notes of jasmine, stone fruit, and a hint of island minerality. This grape variety is also used in dry wines and in the island's legendary Vinsanto dessert wines.
With its understated charm, Aidáni offers a glimpse into the sweeter, more romantic side of Greece's wine heritage.
