Today, there are still some very rare and ancient vines in Europe that were never decimated by the infamous phylloxera. This is the origin of Mov (mauve) wine. A plot of the winery’s oldest vines produces limited quantities of precious bottles representing the best that the Cephalonian vineyard has to offer. A unicorn wine, the absolute embodiment of “Greek finesse!”
MOV stands for Mavrodaphne Old Vines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it is opaque purple, almost black. The nose is characterized by explosive intensity. Tons of black fruit, sage syrup, and eucalyptus intermingle with notes of leather, sweet spices, black pepper, and flowers such as violet and lavender. On the palate, all the elements are in perfect balance. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, with lively acidity and noticeable but well-integrated tannins. Flavors of plum, morello cherry, blueberry, blackberry, cocoa, allspice, iodine, eucalyptus, tea, and animals blend harmoniously into a delicious, flavorful mead leading to a long, lingering finish.
