Mov 2019

PETRAKOPOULOS WINES | CEPHALONIA

Today there are still some very rare and ancient vines in Europe that were never decimated by the notorious phylloxera pest. This is the origin of the Mov (mauve) wine. A parcel of the winery’s oldest vines yields limited precious bottles of the best of what the Cephalonian vineyard has to offer. A unicorn wine, the absolute representative of “Greek finesse!”

MOV stands for Mavrodaphne Old Vines

Andromachi’s Tasting Notes

In the glass it is opaque purple, almost black. The nose is characterised by explosive intensity. Tons of black fruit, sage syrup and eucalyptus intertwine with hints of leather, sweet spices, black pepper and flowers such as violet and lavender. On the palate, all elements in perfect balance. Medium to full body, with sharp acidity and noticeable but well-integrated tannins. Plum, sour cherry, blueberry, blackberry, cocoa, allspice, iodine, eucalyptus, tea and animal flavours blend harmoniously into a delicious savoury mead leading to a long lingering finish.
