Greece as a Wine region
Greece is one of the oldest wine-producing countries in the world. Viticulture and wine production constitute a large part of Greek history, culture and civilization.
Greece has an enchanting landscape and an impressive coastline. Though very mountainous, there is sufficient low-lying land for a great range of native grape varieties to thrive.
Most of the soils are primarily composed of limestone and sandstone sedimentary rock.
Typically Mediterranean, the climate is characterised by extensive sunshine throughout the year, with dry summers and short, mild winters.
