Mavro 2019

PETRAKOPOULOS WINES | CEPHALONIA

One of the winery’s oldest labels and its absolute flagship wine. Produced from three select, 60-year-old, non-irrigated vineyards. The result is a fruit of high quality and concentration. A very elegant expression of Mavrodaphne, combining authenticity with the special character of the wild Cephalonia nature.

Mavro means black in Greek.

Andromachi’s Tasting Notes

Impenetrable deep purple colour. Dense aromas of black cherry, fresh ink complemented by notes of black tea, cinnamon, clove, bay leaf, lavender and chocolate. The palate is enchanted by full body, medium acidity and silky tannins. Black fruit gives way to sage and bitter chocolate flavours. The wine's exuberant character evolves beautifully with long-term ageing. Decanting before serving is recommended.
