Xinomavro

Xinomavro is a compound word meaning acid (xino) and black (mavro).

Xinomavro is the most important black grape variety of Northern Greece producing wines with great depth, structure and ageing potential.

As matter of fact, the skin of its berries does not possess any particularly rich tint. Be that as it may, Xinomavro surprises with its performance and multi-faceted personality, yielding “vin de garde” reds, dynamic rosés, aromatic sparkling wines, and even idiosyncratic sweet wines.

Four different PDO appellations reveal the multifaceted personality of Xinomavro and the diversity of their terroirs. Xinomavro is also present in numerous PGIs as well as in experimental vinifications, combining expressions of different appellations.
