“Aoton” (ἄωτον) is an ancient Greek word which translates to “the most beautiful specimen of its class.”

Only 40 minutes from the centre of Athens, on the arid plateau of Mesogeia, the experienced oenologist Sotiris Gkinis has been producing PGI Attiki certified organic wines from native varieties and a high quality “traditional appellation” retsina since the year 2000.

The family vineyards cover an area of more than six hectares with a slightly alkaline sand and clay soil composition. The vines, at least 25 years old, are partially irrigated and low-yielding.
