Not to be confused with Limnio, Limniona (Lemnióna) is the rising star of the Greek red varieties originating from Thessaly, region of northern Greece south of Macedonia. The quality potential of this red grape was identified when only few vines were left. Several years of research and micro-vinifications, bringing together numerous scientists, growers and producers, started yielding some impressive results.
Both powerful and elegant, Limniona monovarietal wines are destined to the sophisticated wine lover. The vine is vigorous, late-ripening, with great resistance to heat and drought. What is really distinctive of this variety are the dense but silky tannins and its fresh character.
