Limnio

Limnio (lemnió) is probably one of the oldest varieties in Europe mentioned by various Ancient authors like Homer and comic dramatist Aristophanes in the 5th century BC. It takes its name from the homonymous North Aegean island of Lemnos, where it has been cultivated since ancient times. Today, the variety has spread over northern Greece, offering marvellous wines!

Limnio vines are known for their hardiness and ability to survive harsh droughts. The grapes are late ripening and produce high must weights (sugar levels) that translate into noticeable alcohol levels.

Limnio wines generally exhibit moderate colour, red fruit aromas with herbal notes, medium body, silky tannins and moderate acidity.
