Welcome to andromachi selection

Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end – Seneca

The Pathway

It was in August 2017 when Andromachi started her long journey from her homecity, Thessaloniki Greece, to Liege Belgium. Her relocation coincided with a career change, and having inherited a strong entrepreneurial attitude, she decided to open the door to new, fresh and challenging starts.

She carries with her a strong Mediterranean temperament, a deep knowledge of her roots, and also a culture full of the aromas and flavours of Greece.

The vineyard always fascinates me. It is a symbol of continuity and connection to place and tradition. It has been cultivated in Greece for over 7.000 years. Even today in every home the host tries to have his own small vine production to share his wine proudly at every gathering, at every important moment. Wine is culture, sharing and celebration!

The beginning is the most important part of the work.” – Plato

Getting started

Crafting a new working identity is not an easy path.

“Everything in my life evolved through lots of effort, research, deeper understanding and commitment. It wasn’t about throwing away my degrees and my experience but more of a way to reinvent myself, combining my passion for Greece and our wine culture.”

Through research she soon realises the potential in the Belgian market regarding wholesale import and distribution of premium quality Greek wines from outstanding regions and authentic grapes.

Andromachi then enrols on her first WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) course and enters the long, and fruitful, journey of building her wine proficiency & small business knowledge. First in Thessaloniki, then Liege, Antwerp, Bruxelles… Soon, she traversed Greece itself, putting together a small list of forward-thinking producers seeking intimate representation.

“Mentors, friends and family have been supporting me every step of the way.”

20Grec

“20grec”, a playful name appealing mostly to a French-speaking audience, is invented and the business is established from scratch in the beginning of 2020. Fifteen days later humanity is threatened by the coronavirus outbreak. What looked as a challenge soon proved to be an opportunity. 20grec finds a niche.

“Isolation led people starting exploring new, misunderstood, wine regions.”

The 20grecs start gaining in popularity and the company sets apart a creative approach to social media and customer interaction. By the end of 2021, a core of great partners is formed from the Ardennes to the Belgian coast. At the same time, the portfolio grows step-by-step.

“It’s a challenge to find good lower-end wines. We choose smaller production and higher quality.”

The Andromachi Selection

After two years in the market, strongly impacted of the COVID-19, a fresh new start seems ultimately necessary.

A new brand identity is built by Studio Pampas to better reflect the company’s vision, mission and values.

A new colour palette is chosen for the logo. The Greek blue representative of the sky and the sea and the gold colour as symbol of preciousness and selectivity of our products.

“By using my first name, Andromachi, in this new company logo, we highlight the personal approach of being your guide to these Greek treasures and you get to know the person and story behind the company.”

At the same time, a whole new site is created with functional features to facilitate our partner’s knowledge and understanding of Greek wine.

New approach, new look, the same commitment to raising awareness and making premium quality Greek wine from boutique wineries and indigenous varieties mainstream in Belgium.

“Enjoy the journey!” – Andromachi
